CNC Press Brakes

Precision Forming with CNC Press Brakes

At Crenshaw Die & Manufacturing, our CNC press brake services deliver consistent, high-precision sheet metal forming. From single prototypes to high-volume runs, our process is engineered for accuracy, repeatability, and efficient production.

Why Use Our CNC Press Brake Services?

  • Accurate & repeatable bends via CNC control, auto back gauging, and programmable bend allowance
  • Over-bend & hemming capability for tight edge radii and high quality fold finishes
  • Reduced setup time and increased throughput
  • Integration with other services – stamping, forming, fabrication, and machining under one roof
  • ISO 9001:2015 – certified systems, ensuring consistent quality and traceability

Capabilities & Equipment

Our press brake services include:

CapabilityDetails / Application
Press CapacityFrom 20 to 35 tons (multiple machines)
Tooling LengthUp to 10 feet continuous tooling length
Minimum Tool WidthTooling segments as narrow as 0.250”
Hemming & Over-BendingAbility to fold, hem, and overbend parts to compensate for spring-back
Auto Back GaugingAccurate placement for bend locations, reduces manual repositioning
Programmable Bend AllowanceSoftware control accounts for material behavior (spring-back, stretch)
Retractable Stops / FixturesFlexible tooling for complex bend geometries and interference avoidance
These capabilities allow us to manage a wide range of bending geometries — angled flanges, hems, jogs, offsets, and combinations of bends on complex parts.

By offering our CNC forming services together with stamping, machining, water jet cutting, and sheet metal fabrication, we can:

  • Minimize part handling and transit time
  • Reduce coordination errors or misalignments
  • Provide a single point of accountability for quality and delivery
  • Allow more complex end-to-end workflows (e.g. blank → bend → machine → assembly)

Crenshaw’s press brake forming is used in:

  • Aerospace & Defense – brackets, stiffeners, support frames
  • Medical Devices – housings, enclosures, instrument parts
  • Industrial / Energy – machine housing, control panels, enclosures
  • Transportation – shallow panels, brackets, structural supports

We work with aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, and various sheet alloys, in both prototype and production volume projects.

  • Materials include aluminum (multiple alloys), stainless steels, mild steel, and custom alloys
  • Capable of bending sheet thicknesses appropriate to the ranging tonnage (depending on part geometry)
  • Run sizes span from single-piece custom jobs to large batch production, depending on part complexity and cycle time

Quality is central to our CNC press brake services:

  • In-process inspections and bend verification
  • Use of precision measuring tools to confirm angle, length, and flatness
  • Traceability and documentation under our ISO 9001:2015 system
  • Capability to meet customer-specific inspection or reporting requirements

Press Brake FAQs

What is a CNC press brake?

A CNC press brake is a machine that bends sheet metal by pressing a punch into a die. With computerized control, it can execute precise, repeatable bends automatically.

Over-bending means bending slightly past the target angle to offset spring-back. As metal elastically recovers, it settles into the correct angle.

Hemming is folding an edge of sheet metal back onto itself, creating a smooth, safer edge (e.g. for enclosures or panels).

We bend flanges, brackets, panels, offset bends, jogs, break-down folds, and other bent features for housings, frames, enclosures, and more.

Retractable stops can move in or out of the way during bending, allowing flexibility when bend sequences or shapes would otherwise interfere with static fixtures.
